ZEST cleansing system achieves menopause-friendly status
The Body Doctor’s in-practice procedure ZEST has been awarded the MTick certification to signpost that it is menopause-friendly.
ZEST is a deep-cleansing eyelid hygiene system for patients suffering with dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction, demodex or inflammation.
The MTick is awarded by the menopause brand partner, GenM and is the world’s first universal shopping symbol and trusted certification for menopause-friendly shopping. It enables women to search, source and shop for menopause-friendly products with confidence.
A total of 15.5 million women in the UK are currently experiencing menopause, yet 87 per cent of women report feeling overlooked and underserved by brands and retail. GenM’s UK Visibility Report 2024, representative of 2,000 respondents, highlights that 94 per cent of women want to shop for menopause-friendly labelled products and yet two-thirds (66 per cent) say that these are difficult to find.
To achieve the MTick certification, products must meet GenM’s robust criteria and undergo thorough clinical trials to provide evidence that they ease, relive or support one or more of the 48 symptoms of the menopause.
The Body Doctor’s Senior Marketing Manager, Emma Meeres, said: “Menopause can bring a host of changes to everyday comfort, including eye dryness and irritation, and the MTick recognition confirms the evidence-based role our product plays in supporting eyelid hygiene and ocular surface health.
“With the MTick certification, patients and clinicians alike can be confident that ZEST offers a safe, clinically validated solution tailored to the unique needs of women during the menopause.”
ZEST is the latest offering from The Body Doctor to achieve the prestigious MTick certification and joins eight of The Eye Doctor products, including The Eye Doctor’s Antibacterial Eye Compress, Dry Eye Kit, Intensive Relief Eye Drops and Intensive Relief Eye Mist, plus Advanced Comfort Eyelid Oil and Hypochlorous Eyelid Spray. Additionally, the ReMind brain health supplements and 21 in the M-Club dedicated menopause brand have the MTick certification.
In awarding the certification, GenM said that all of the products met the criteria and ‘demonstrated compliance with MTick requirements through submission of evidence confirming regulatory status, product safety and performance validation.’
The Body Doctor products also met GenM’s communication guidance for focusing on supporting eyelid hygiene, relieving feelings of dryness and discomfort, helping maintain ocular surface health, contributing to daily comfort and eye hydration.
In the MTick Summary Report, GenM concluded: “The Body Doctor’s eye care range meets MTick certification standards through proven performance, menopause relevance, regulatory compliance and robust clinical evidence.
“These products can display the MTick mark, providing consumers with confidence in their ability to offer meaningful, scientifically validated support for menopause-related eye health concerns.”
ZEST was a popular attraction at 100% Optical in March when its inventor, Dr Peter Pham, featured in The Body Doctor’s demonstration zone showing visitors how easy it is to use in practice.
