Wiseman Fund Recipient expands Low Vision Knowledge

Gemma Gould, a lecturer in optometry at the University of Manchester, has recently attended the International Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation conference 2025 in Florence, thanks to support from the Wiseman Fund.

“I presented a poster of my research about factors influencing the participation of primary eye care clinicians in low vision services and enjoyed discussing my work with colleagues. It was great to receive positive feedback about its’ importance and potential implications for the future.  It was a brilliant networking opportunity,” said Gemma.

“A range of interesting sessions at the event on different topics relating to low vision have enhanced my knowledge and inspired me to continue my work in developing and expanding these services. I am very grateful for the Wiseman Fund support and for awarding me the travel grant.”

The Wiseman Fund Travel Awards enable students, qualified optometrists or dispensing opticians to enhance their knowledge and gain from field trips and conferences, especially those in support of overseas optical charities.
