Performance Finance Abseils 38 storeys down Northampton’s hi-rise Lift Tower, raising over £2,000 for Homeless health charities in the UK.
On Saturday 11th October, Kettering based, medical funding experts, Performance Finance successfully completed a thrilling 127m, 38 storeys, abseil down the iconic National Lift Tower in Northampton.
In support of World Homeless Day (October 10th), raising vital funds for two crucial charities: Vision Care and Dentaid.
The brave team spent months preparing for the challenge, tackling the full height of the former testing facility, the tallest permanent abseil tower in the UK.
Their effort was focused on raising awareness and vital funds for those experiencing homelessness, whose access to essential services like eye care and dentistry is often severely limited.
MD, Stuart Burn, who participated in the event said “Oh my god that was a hair-raising experience. Your heart is in your mouth as you step over the edge.
So proud of my team, no one pulled out, and everyone completed the abseil unaided.
Let’s hope this generates some well needed funds for Vision Care and Dentaid”
The funds raised will directly support the two charities’ work in providing free eye examinations and glasses, as well as essential dental treatment, to vulnerable people on the streets and in temporary accommodation across the UK.
Alison Gordon – Community & Corporate Fundraiser – Vision Care said
“Well done to Performance Finance for taking on the abseil challenge to mark World Homeless Day. By supporting Vision Care and Dentaid, you’ve shone a spotlight on the urgent need for accessible healthcare for people affected by homelessness. Thank you—and thank you to everyone who donated to Vision Care through this event. Your support makes it possible for us to keep delivering free, life-changing eye care to those who need it most.”
Vision Care provides free, accessible sight tests and glasses to people experiencing homelessness in an environment where they feel welcome and safe.
Megan Jackson, Fundraising Officer for Community and Events at Dentaid The Dental Charity, said: “To be able to tackle an abseil of such an enormous height is a hugely daunting experience, so we’re grateful to the team at Performance Finance for facing down their fears and taking on this challenge.
“The money raised will make a big difference in us being able to support who are most vulnerable and in need of dental care in communities across the UK.
“By bringing our mobile dental units to more places across the country we can help to break down barriers to treatment for thousands of people facing hardship.”
Dentaid works to improve the world’s oral health, providing outreach dental services in the UK for those unable to access care, including homeless people, survivors of abuse, and those living in poverty.
Performance Finance continues to raise vital funds and support through their community outreach projects, including monthly donations to Kettering food bank and fundraising for Northampton Hope Centre, and Glamis Hall or All, based in Wellingborough.
