New role created to increase peer-to-peer dry eye learning

The Body Doctor is expanding its educational programmes with the appointment of Liya Ali to the company’s Learning and Development Team as Learning and Development Manager.

Liya is a qualified dispensing optician and contact lens optician who has been working in practice for almost 25 years.

Following the appointment, Ros Mussa, the former Learning and Development Manager, now becomes the company’s Head of Professional Affairs. Ros said: “I’m absolutely delighted to see Liya joining us in this exciting new role. Having worked alongside her many years ago, I know firsthand that she is a highly competent and ethical clinician. Her dedication to both patient care and professional development has always stood out.

“Liya’s blend of clinical expertise and passion for education makes her a perfect fit for The Body Doctor’s approach to training and support. She understands the realities of practice and brings that hands-on insight to help others grow. I’m confident she will have a meaningful impact, particularly in helping clinicians feel more empowered and knowledgeable in delivering dry eye management.”

Liya has been a locum contact lens optician in the multiple sector for the last five years, predominantly for Boots Opticians in central London. She has also worked in independent practice for 15 years and was involved in numerous clinical trials for various contact lens manufacturers and vision care research.

For five years, Liya was a clinical demonstrator at City University, London, supporting final year optometry students with their core competencies in contact lens clinics.
