New director, 22, takes the helm at Alcester practice
A LOCAL practice is celebrating the appointment of a new director, as Charlie-Leigh Martin steps into the role at just 22 years old.

Charlie, who joins the team at Specsavers Alcester, began her career in optics in 2019 at the age of 16, working as an optical assistant in the Chelmsley Wood practice. Her dedication and passion for the industry saw her quickly progress, being promoted to supervisor in 2022 and manager in 2023.
Such was her ambition and drive, she joined Specsavers Pathway which aims to nurture and recruit Specsavers talent for future business ownership roles. After successfully completing the programme, Charlie officially became a director of the Alcester store on 31 March.
Speaking about her journey, Charlie says: ‘From starting as a “Saturday girl” I don’t think I would have believed you if you told me I’d be a director just six years later. I’ve always loved working at Specsavers and had ambitions to progress, so it feels great to have started working with the team in Alcester in my new role.
‘I’m really enjoying meeting our lovely patients and getting to know the community better and can’t wait to get involved in more community support. It’s such a supportive environment and everyone has been so welcoming – it’s been an incredible start.’
James Chapman, fellow director, adds: ‘Charlie’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Her commitment, leadership, and passion for customer care have made her a valued member of the team in Chelmsley Wood, and I have no doubt she will thrive in this new role with us here in Alcester.’
