GOC erases Salford based optometrist from register

The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to erase Muhammad Vali, an optometrist based in Salford, England, from its register.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is due to processing false and personal expenses by claiming they were legitimate business-related expenses.

Mr Vali has until 24 October 2025 to appeal against his erasure, during which time he is suspended from the register.
