ALL EYES ON THE FUTURE AT CUTTING EDGE

SYMPOSIUM IN BIRMINGHAM

Two leading providers in the eye healthcare sector, Optegra Eye Health Care and ZEISS, are hosting a transformative symposium, which will deliver latest knowledge at the forefront of ophthalmic innovation.

Registration is now open for the CPD-accredited All Eyes on the Future event taking place on Saturday 1 November at Conference Aston in Birmingham.

This one-day interactive experience, open to all optometrists and ophthalmologists, brings together leading experts, cutting-edge breakthroughs and hands-on workshops designed to enhance skills and broaden knowledge.

Kicking off the event, Optegra’s Mr Amir Hamid and Mr Sajjad Mahmood will be sharing what’s new in both cataract surgery and AMD treatment.

The keynote speaker for the event is Professor Dominik Fischer, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at The Retina Clinic London and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford. He also serves as a Consultant at Oxford Eye Hospital and holds academic appointments in Germany and Switzerland.

Professor Fischer completed his academic and clinical training in medical retina, surgical retina, and genetics across Munich, Philadelphia, Zurich, Tubingen, and Oxford. He has been recognized with over 25 awards for his contributions to ophthalmology, including the Leonhard Klein Award for advancements in vitreoretinal surgery and the Senator H. Wacker Award for his scientific contributions to retinal disease.

Attendees can select up to two masterclasses or wet labs from eight immersive options, earning up to 13 CPD points. Led by industry experts, these interactive sessions offer a hands-on learning experience that brings theoretical knowledge to life.

Topics include getting the most from OCT, demystifying corneal tomography and mastering biometry for better outcomes. Participants can also get hands-on cataract and laser refractive surgery experience in the wet labs.

Optegra consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Shafiq Rehman, will be chairing a rapid-fire interactive case discussion to close out the day.

Professor Clare O’Donnell, Head of Optegra Eye Sciences, says: “We are delighted to be partnering with ZEISS to bring this symposium to professionals in the eye care industry. The event brings together renowned experts, industry leaders and passionate professionals for an immersive experience filled with invaluable insights, interactive workshops, and collaborative discussions.

“We hope you will join us to immerse yourself in a dynamic environment to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.”

Hayley Coates, Head of Professional Education at ZEISS UK, expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming event co-hosted with Optegra, stating: “This is the 4th year we have jointly hosted this Symposium with our colleagues at Optegra, and we are excited to collaborate again, offering a day of the latest insights and hands-on experience.

“The event will highlight cutting-edge technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of cataract, corneal, glaucoma and retinal conditions, helping community optometrists and ophthalmologists stay up to date. Attendees will have the chance to learn about these techniques and try out some of the procedures themselves.”
