GOC suspends Bradford based optometrist from register
The General Optical Council (GOC), the UK regulator for optometrists and dispensing opticians, has decided to suspend Shahid Nazir, an optometrist based in Bradford, from its register for 12 months.
A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct. This is due to conducting multiple inadequate eye examinations and/or assessments, which included recording false information in patient records.
Mr Nazir has until 7 November 2025 to appeal against his suspension, during which time he is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
