Successful pilot for eyelid eversion tool Meivertor

The Meivertor is the only single-handed upper and lower eyelid eversion tool, has recently been tested by Professor James Wolffsohn, Head of the School of Optometry at Aston University in clinics there.

Professor Wolffsohn concluded: “The Meivertor is a very useful instrument. I’ve found it very helpful for meibography, and it can be an excellent aid for clinicians in the early stages of their career.”

Meivertor is an innovation that has quietly been transforming the way clinicians approach upper eyelid eversion, helping them overcome one of the trickiest parts of modern meibography. Meivertor was launched into the UK by The Body Doctor Ltd at 100% Optical in March, following the success of the instrument in the USA.

Giving an update since the launch, the Body Doctor’s Sales and Marketing Director, Sam Wymer, said: “The launch of TFOS DEWS III dry eye report has reignited the conversation around upper lid meibography, with clear guidance that imaging both the upper and lower eyelids is essential for accurately diagnosing meibomian gland dysfunction, a leading cause of dry eye disease.

It also make the removal of a foreign body in the eye much easier.”

The Meivertor tool features semi cylindrical grips with etched surfacing to give a stable grip for optimal tool rotation. The silicone tips have a tongue and groove feature which provides a secure and even grip across the eyelashes, easing rotation and aiding patient comfort.
